Developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s, the Pomodoro Technique is a time management method that uses a timer to break work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks.
25-minute sessions are long enough for deep work but short enough to maintain concentration
Track how long tasks actually take and improve your time estimation skills
Regular breaks prevent mental exhaustion and maintain productivity throughout the day
While the traditional 25/5 minute format works for many people, you can adjust the timing to fit your needs:
Try 45-90 minute sessions with 15-20 minute breaks for complex tasks
Start with 15-20 minute sessions with 5-10 minute breaks
Use 30-minute study sessions with 10-minute review breaks
