How this browser alarm works

Choose the time you want to be woken or reminded, then press Set alarm. The clock reads your device's own time, works out the next moment that matches — later today if the time is still ahead, otherwise the same time tomorrow — and shows a live countdown so you always know how long is left. When that moment arrives, a clear two-tone alarm plays and a flashing message appears so you can't miss it.

One thing worth knowing: this alarm only rings while the tab stays open. A web page cannot wake a phone that is locked or a laptop that has gone to sleep, so keep this tab open and your screen awake until the alarm fires. For an overnight wake-up where the device will be asleep, use your phone's built-in alarm instead — this tool is best for reminders while you are at the computer. Pressing Snooze 5 min silences the sound and re-arms the alarm five minutes later; nothing you set is ever sent anywhere.

When people reach for it

  • Power naps:set a 20-minute alarm so a quick rest doesn't turn into an afternoon.
  • Meetings & calls: get a nudge a few minutes before a 2:00 pm stand-up without watching the clock.
  • Laundry & chores: know exactly when the wash finishes or the parking meter is about to expire.
  • Time-boxing: work until a set clock time, then let the alarm signal a hard stop.

Frequently asked questions

Will the alarm ring if I close the tab?

No. The alarm runs entirely in this browser tab, so it must stay open for the sound to play. If you close the tab, switch the device off, or let it fall asleep, the alarm will not fire.

Why do I have to press a button before it makes sound?

Browsers block audio until you interact with the page. Pressing Set alarm counts as that interaction and unlocks the sound, so the alarm is ready to play the moment it is due.

What does Snooze do?

Snooze stops the current ring and sets a fresh alarm for five minutes from now, with the countdown restarting so you can see the new wait.

Which time zone does it use?

Your device's local time. The time you pick is matched against the clock on your own computer or phone, so the alarm fires at that local moment wherever you are.
